Annual meeting postponed to a later date

WHEREAS, a state of emergency exists due to the pandemic situation in relation to the COVID-19 virus;

WHEREAS, the Wisconsin governor has issued a safer at home order which is now extended to Tuesday May 26 2020;

WHEREAS, Act 185, recently passed by the Wisconsin legislature, allows chairmen of Wisconsin towns to postpone the annual town meeting to a date “that is not during the period beginning on the first day of the public health emergency and ending 60 days after the termination of that order”;

WHEREAS, the earliest date the town meeting could be held would be 61 days after expiration of the public health emergency;

THEREFORE, I, John Lowry, Chairman of the Town of Liberty Grove, pursuant to the authority granted by 2019 Wisconsin Act 185, do hereby declare postponement of the Liberty Grove Annual Town Meeting from Tuesday April 21 to a date that is at least 60 days after expiration of the Wisconsin state of emergency, which notice of Annual Meeting shall be posted according to law.

Instructions for Participants

Before a videoconference:

  1. You will need a computer, tablet, or smartphone with speaker or headphones.  You will have the opportunity to check your audio immediately upon joining a meeting.
  2. Videoconferencing information will be included on the meeting agenda.  It will include a link for “join via computer” as well as phone numbers for a conference call option.  It will also include meeting ID and password information.

To join the video conference by computer:

  1. Prior to the start of the meeting record the Meeting ID & Participant ID for easy reference
    1. Go to www.libertygrove.org
    1. Click on the “more” button under agendas and minutes
    1. Click on the word “Agenda” by the correct meeting
    1. Find the information on the bottom half of the page
  2. At the start time of your meeting, click on the link at the bottom of the agenda to join via computer. You may be instructed to download the Zoom application
    1. You will have an opportunity to test your audio at this point by clicking on “Test Computer Audio”. 
    1. Once you are satisfied that your audio works, click on “Join audio by computer”.

To join the video conference by telephone:

  1. Prior to the start of the meeting record the Meeting ID & Participant ID for easy reference
    1. Go to www.libertygrove.org
    1. Click on the “more” button under agendas and minutes
    1. Click on the word “Agenda” by the correct meeting
    1. Find the information on the bottom half of the page
  2. At the start time of your meeting call the most appropriate number listed on the agenda (closest to your physical location at the time of the meeting).
    1. Follow the voice prompts to enter the Meeting ID and Participant ID

For security purposes, all participants will enter a “waiting room” upon connection. 

  • The Clerk will monitor the waiting room and allow participants into the meeting as quickly as possible.
  • If there is a closed session noticed on the agenda, public citizens will remain in the waiting room until the Board/Committee reconvenes into open session.
